DAY 23 OF 41

BEING SPOILT FOR CHOICE

How often do we face decisions in our lives? About 20,000 times a day we have to take decisions (often in a flash). Nutella or jam, blue or black pants … They are not always such big or moral decisions as we read about in this Bible verse. But not only the big, but also all the small decisions in our everyday lives influence what our lives and also the lives of our friends or families look like.

God is a god of freedom. He gives us total freedom in all situations of our lives. It is his heart’s desire that we decide to do what is good, what he perceives as right, choose his guidelines, his values. But he also knows that we cannot or do not always want to do this.

And for this reason, he takes our failures into account. Just as in this Bible verse. God already knew how the crowd would react and used this decision for his plan.

It is God’s specialty to turn our worst decisions, our greatest mistakes and the biggest garbage in our lives into something that he considers truly good. For him there is no hopeless situation and no decision that has such a negative outcome that it would overwhelm him.

ACTION STEP:

What situation in which you made a wrong decision comes to mind?

Bring this situation to Jesus at the cross (it is best to do this with somebody else), ask him for forgiveness and accept his forgiveness. Pray that he makes something good result from this. Then celebrate communion!

About this Plan

#JESUS2018 - Daily Devotionals

For many people Easter is merely a nice spring festival. However, the origin of Easter is powerful and relevant for all people. During this time, we celebrate that Jesus died and resurrected for us. By doing this, something incredible happened. In this reading plan we want to engage ourselves with the last 24 hours in the life of Jesus. Jesus’ death on the cross is not the end, but the beginning of something totally new. For each one of us. – “Because I live, you also will live.” John 14:19
