P.O.E.T.S. Of Prayer Sample

P.O.E.T.S. Of Prayer

DAY 1 OF 6

Prayer Is ____

Prayer is our direct access to communication with God and receiving his power. It is a great way to petition God to move on our behalf. There is no right or wrong way to pray, but there is an effective way to approach prayer. Can you recall a time where you prayed for something and it did not happen the way you expected, if at all? Were you upset, questioning your faith or even God's ability?

I have been there, disappointed because I felt like God did not hear or answer my prayers. This is where I caution you to understand the difference between what prayer is and what prayer is not. Prayer is not a transaction service. God is not a genie and he is not obligated to tell us yes. Psalm 37:4 says that God will give us the desires of our heart, but I do not believe he will give us the desires over his will for our life.

Prayer is not solely about us getting, but giving to God through honor, reverence, and attention. Someone once told me that one of the most effective prayers you can pray is "Lord, let your will be done." Having this understanding of the purpose of prayer will change how we deal with the outcomes of how God chooses to answer our prayers. We have to mature to a place in prayer that regardless of if God says yes or no our outlook of who God is will not change.

In this plan we will discover how we can all be "P.O.E.T.S. of Prayer." According to dictionary.com, a poet is a person possessing special powers of imagination or expression. In translation, this is having faith in the things we can not yet see and expressing our faith verbally in prayer to God.

About this Plan

P.O.E.T.S. Of Prayer

Prayer is arguably one of the most important aspects of Christain living. It is our direct access to communication with God. If you have ever questioned whether or not your prayers are effective, this plan is for you. Although there is no right or wrong way to talk to God, the Bible does highlight important things we should include during our time of prayer.
