EXPECTANCY
If you do not expect anything to come out of your prayers, why do you even pray?
We know it is not good to pray and worry, yet many of our prayer lives are a response to worry. Can you image how God feels when we worry about things he is capable of doing? Think about your micro-managing employer. They give you a project and deadline but still worry you until you get it done. Does that make you move any faster or does it just frustrate you even more?
I once read that worrying is another way of telling God that we do not believe he is able to perform better than we can on our own. This a very interesting perspective that we should consider.
I believe that once we come to a place where we pray in expectation for God to move, he will. Always remember that what you go looking for you will find, good or bad. It is important to know that faith and fear can not co-exist. If you are worrying as you pray, your faith is not at work, because at that point you are operating out of fear.
A part of having expectancy is expecting to see God's will revealed in your life as a result of your prayers. Having expectancy is having hope that God will answer your prayers, as he sees fit.
Reflection
What are you expecting God to do as you pray in this season? Write it down or tell God what it is you are looking forward to.
