PERSISTENCE
We cannot expect growth in our relationship with God without spending time in prayer. Every single day we need to pray. 1 Thessalonians 5:17 tells us to pray without ceasing. This implies that prayer has no end point, no restrictions, and no limitations. When we decide not to pray, we create our own barriers to reaching and hearing from God.
Praying with persistence is having the will to talk to God about any and all things regardless of the circumstances. It's continuing to do something despite our difficulties. God never placed restrictions on what we can come to him about. The enemy wants to deceive us and guilt us into hiding our sin, struggles, frustrations, and mistakes from God—but God already knows them.
To be persistent we have to begin to be intentional in setting time aside to pray daily. Think about the people in your life who you communicate with most. They probably know you best and you may feel you know them best. You trust them, rely on them and are committed to the relationship you have developed with them, simply from frequent communication. Your relationship with God is no different.
Once you begin to pray often, you will learn more about him. You'll know his voice and understand his ways. Eventually you will come to a point where talking to God is something that you can't go a day without.
Reflection:
What is one thing you can do to start a more persistent prayer life?
