Tough As Nails: DanielSample

Second Kings 25 records a horrifying historical event. King Zedekiah who had rebelled against Nebuchadnezzar had his sons slaughtered in front of him and then his eyes immediately gouged out so that this would be the last thing he ever saw. From other historical annals of Nebuchadnezzar, we learn that this kind of cruelty was common. Ezekiel 24, with its own poetic flare, describes the atrocities that took place at the destruction of Jerusalem. Again, Jerusalem fell in 586 BC some 20 years after Daniel was taken to Babylon. He is thus in his mid-30s, likely somewhere in the midst of Daniel chapter 3 or 4.
