Thoughts to consider as you listen and read through this study: Our desire to please others and ourselves is devastating to others and ourselves. When we first become aware of, and admit to our sin, we can feel unlovable and full of shame. This makes loving someone else hard and almost dangerous—we’re afraid that we’ll hurt them. This is where the good news of the Gospel comes in; when we were most unlovable, Christ loved us. This song also helps to set up the trajectory of this concept album. This whole album is about the community and family of God’s kingdom, and this third song reminds us of who and what we are without the grace of God.
