GO2020 | ENGAGE: May Week 2 - GOSample
May 11—God’s Hero: Daniel
Read
Daniel 6:10, 21-23
Reflect
Today’s hero, Daniel, was confronted with a law that made it punishable by death (a night in the lions’ den) to pray to anyone other than the king for 30 days. Daniel could have taken a month off from his prayers or practiced his faith very privately, but he didn’t. He continued his practice of praying three times a day kneeling before the windows facing Jerusalem. His faithfulness to God got him arrested and thrown into the den of lions. How did God protect Daniel? What explanation did Daniel give to the king for his survival? Why did God deliver Daniel? Read ahead (Daniel 6:25-28) to find out what happened as a result of his heroic action.
Engage
Read today’s Scripture passage. Say or write it out in your own words, considering the following questions:
· What does it say about God?
· What does it say about us?
· Is there a promise to trust?
· Is there a command to obey?
· How will I apply this Scripture to my life?
· Who will I show that I care by sharing this truth?
Memorize
Now read this week’s memory verse, Mark 1:15. Spend a few minutes beginning to memorize it.

About this Plan
Let's focus on heroes of the faith who model for us what it looks like to “go!” These heroes were ordinary folks like us. They had a burning message of hope for their generation. Some suffered; some struggled; some were young; some were older; but all of them shared the hope that God had given them.
