GO2020 | ENGAGE: May Week 2 - GOSample
May 12—God’s Hero: Paul
Read
Acts 9:19-25
Reflect
Today’s hero, Paul, referred to in the reading as Saul, had been a persecutor of the church of Jesus Christ. He was responsible for the arrests and even deaths of people who followed in the way of Jesus. But suddenly his life is changed after an encounter with Jesus on the road to Damascus. After regaining his sight (he was blinded by the bright light from heaven when he met Jesus) and being baptized, Paul was quick to go to the synagogues (where the Jews met for religious activities) and declare that he now believed that Jesus was the Son of God. His proclamation confounded his hearers and his former allies, now enemies, plotted to kill him. The threats were taken seriously, but they didn’t deter Paul from declaring that Jesus was the Messiah!
Engage
Read today’s Scripture passage. Say or write it out in your own words, considering the following questions:
· What does it say about God?
· What does it say about us?
· Is there a promise to trust?
· Is there a command to obey?
· How will I apply this Scripture to my life?
· Who will I show that I care by sharing this truth?
Memorize
Now read this week’s memory verse, Mark 1:15. Spend a few minutes working to memorize it.

About this Plan
Let's focus on heroes of the faith who model for us what it looks like to “go!” These heroes were ordinary folks like us. They had a burning message of hope for their generation. Some suffered; some struggled; some were young; some were older; but all of them shared the hope that God had given them.
