Jesus is Supreme

DAY 1 OF 7

“Count the Cost”. If you are anything like me, you heard this phrase (or something like it) from the mouths of your parents growing up. We all used to be young and dumb. Maybe that’s the season of life you are in right now. Either way, our parents had it right when they gave us these three words of advice. Because the truth is, at times we are all creatures with a tendency to jump into certain things without completely thinking them through. And a relationship with Jesus is no different.

Jesus essentially gives His disciples the same advice in Matthew 16. He wants to make them, and us today, aware of what it will cost to follow Him. He says, “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.” (NIV)

Here’s what I think Jesus was getting at: so many people are quick to jump into a relationship with Jesus before knowing all that it will cost them.

There seems to be a three-step process to beginning a walk with Christ: 1) Deny yourself, 2) Take up your cross, and 3) Follow.

Over the next seven days, we are going to look deeper into each of these crucial steps. Because whether you’ve been walking with Christ for years or you haven’t met Him yet, I believe that these three things can change your life.

About this Plan

Jesus is Supreme

The world around us is full of avenues that will promise temporary satisfaction. The truth is, only the way of Jesus Christ can fulfill us eternally. But how do we learn to fix our gaze on Jesus, while glancing at the world? Or, as Jesus puts it, how do we be in the world but not of it? Get ready to have your world rocked over the next 7 days!
