Jesus is SupremeSample
We’ve been walking through different aspects of Jesus’ lifestyle and teachings to highlight the fact that He is indeed supreme.
If we truly want to glance at the world while fixing our gaze on Jesus, we need to look at another key component of a healthy walk with Christ: Purity. Yep, we said the P word. If you read through the New Testament, especially, you will see that this is one of the most talked about subjects. Today, due to technology and an over-sexualized culture, it is harder than ever to remain pure.
There is this common phrase that Paul likes to use in his writing, “Flee from sexual immorality”. Remaining pure back when the Bible was written vs. remaining pure today may have their differences. However, we believe it comes down to the same, key question we must ask ourselves: Will this fulfill me eternally? You see, once we can answer that question confidently in any given situation, we will do whatever it takes to either pursue or run away from that thing.
Following Jesus is an example of something that will eternally satisfy us and is worth pursuing rigorously. But along the way, we will be met with temptations to give in to impurity.
Joseph, in Genesis 39, shows us how to react when he runs away from a temptation that could lead him down an impure path. Will you choose to do the same in similar situations?
Achieving purity is not always easy, but it is always worth it.
