Devotions From John's GospelSample
Jesus has just told that knowing Him is knowing and seeing the Father. Was Philip asking for a more concrete “vision” of the Father? Jesus very patiently interacts with Philip. Is there a little sadness in his tone? Try enacting his response. Please read verses 9-11 as Jesus might have said it. Did you capture his disappointment? Jesus recognizes a need for convincing evidence for the disciples to believe. Jesus did not use miracles for publicity. He did present miracles once before to restore the crumbling faith of John the Baptist. (Matthew 11:2-6) Now, once again he appeals for the disciples' belief in him at least based on his miracles.
Dear sister, brother! Do you have any unanswered questions about your faith in Jesus? Like Philip, present it to Jesus and pray about it. Please attend bible studies. If there is none, ask your pastor to conduct bible studies where you can present your doubts.
Prayer
Jesus, my gracious teacher, Sometimes I make you sad with my disbelief. Thank you for your patience with me. I want to believe in you. Help me to believe. Open my eyes to behold the Father through you.
Jesus might say…..
My child, It is okay to have doubts. Come to me with all your uncertainties. Be part of my body, the church where you can seek to grow in their fellowship. I reside there in spirit teaching and making people whole.
