SWHW Bible Reading Plan: December 2021

DAY 4 OF 23

Top Takeaway from Michelle Myers:

The message to Laodicea has so many truths we need to remember today.

Laodicea was the wealthiest of the seven cities that are mentioned specifically in Revelation. Because of their success, they had drifted into spiritual indifference and self-sufficiency.

Those two words alone stir up conviction in my heart. Because spiritual indifference and self-sufficiency both have a cost, and sadly, because of some temporary earthly perk, it’s one that we pay without much notice.

This message was to remind them that their possessions and achievements were valueless in eternity. The same is true for us. Without our vital relationship with Christ, we have nothing.

But look at the sweetness of our Father:

“Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and will dine with him, and he with Me.” - Revelation 3:19

Despite our spiritual indifference that leads to spiritual laziness or the self-sufficiency that robs us of relying on God’s power, God continues to pursue us.

Real questions we can ask ourselves today: Do you feel indifferent toward God? Do you hear Him knocking on the door of your heart? What’s keeping you from opening the door and dining with your Father?

Father, thank You for pursuing me. I don’t want to get wrapped up with the world’s temporary satisfaction and miss the satisfaction that is only found in You. Convict me when I become too self-sufficient or too satisfied with the things of this world. Break me from spiritual indifference. I only want You, God. I love You, Amen!

About this Plan

SWHW Bible Reading Plan: December 2021

Using God's Word as the foundation for our conversation, every devotional is written by women in the trenches of faith, family, and work, aiming to live for the glory of God and the good of others. There are enough devotions included for a typical five-day work schedule. We recommend plugging into your local church for the remaining two days of each week.
