Parents and Kids Daily Devotional "First Things First"Sample

Parents and Kids Daily Devotional "First Things First"

DAY 11 OF 31

The word “repent” in the original language is “Metanoia”, which means a change of mind, or a complete or total change. Repentance is not just regretting or feeling guilty and sad. Many people regret their actions, especially when they are caught. But we find that they do the same thing again and then regret it again. This is not repenting.

Therefore, we must change every wrong behavior through the way we think. If we act in response, it is because we believe in the thoughts we are thinking right now. We repent not because we are afraid that we will get caught, but it’s a decision to devote our heart and mind to change.

If there is a behavior in your life that you don’t like? Now take the time to come to the source and change the reason behind it so that you have total freedom to start adopting a positive attitude or way of thinking about the events you are experiencing. Begin to train your mind to think positive thoughts. These are much better than constantly giving opportunities for wrong thoughts which could put your entire life at risk, including your relationship with God. Remember that your thoughts will become your words, your words will become your actions.

Devotion for Parents
Is there anything in your life that you need to change? Things hidden even from your closest ones, such as your spouse and children. Things that are only visible to you.

Repentance comes from the heart and mind. It is not enough to say that we regret our actions only to repeat them. Today, ask the Holy Spirit to lead you into the path of true repentance.

Devotion for Kids
How often do we apologize for doing something wrong to our parents, promise not to do it again, only to repeat the same mistakes the next day?

Repentance means you admit your mistakes, ask for forgiveness, and don’t repeat the same mistake in the future. The Holy Spirit will enable you to do it. You can’t rely on your abilities.

So, pray and ask for the Holy Spirit to help you.

Family Devotion Time
List down examples of fake repentance.

Pray for the repentance with each family member so that you don’t repeat the same mistakes.
