Parents and Kids Daily Devotional "First Things First"Sample
Having lots of friends is fun. Choosing our companions wisely is necessary. The Word of God today speaks firmly about that, “Walk with the wise and become wise, for a companion of fools suffers harm” (Proverbs 13:20 NIV).
When we become aware of those who are corrupting our values and eroding our good virtues, it’s a signal to make a decision. Don’t stay too long with “toxic” people. They will take our eyes off the purpose and calling that God has planned for our lives. Make sure to take heed and be wise in choosing friends and companions.
Another important thing to note is that it’s not always the other person who brings the poison. We should also check on ourselves and make sure that we are not the “toxic” ones! Be a good friend to others around you.
Devotion for Parents
Friendship is a term familiar to kids and adults alike. As adults, we have friends. The same question is being asked to parents, as well as to children, do we have good friends? Are we good friends to others?
Bad companions make us lose our focus and become unwise. On the other hand, wise companions bring us closer to God and to live our life according to God’s calling.
Devotion for Kids
We are taught to be friends with anyone, and that is the right thing to do. However, we have to be aware of whom we call “friends”. If they influence us to do the wrong things and to live a life opposite to the Truth, then the wisest thing to do is to avoid them and put some distance between us and them.
On the other hand, we also have to make sure that we are good friends with those around us. A good friend brings his/her friend to know God and they grow together in Truth.
