Parents and Kids Daily Devotional "Look at "Us

DAY 5 OF 31

It is relatively easier to be kind to those whom we think are able to repay our kindness. For example, it is easier to share with those whom we think have the ability to share with us or to help someone whom we think is able to return the favor in the future.

How about those whom we think are unable to repay our kindness? They may be lacking, or are limited by certain disabilities. Can we love them and be kind to them despite their condition?

The Bible verse that we just read reminds us that we should help others without any expectation. We are kind, we are loving because we want to glorify the name of the Lord and we remember that God has loved and blessed us first. No matter who receives our help, no matter if they can ever repay our kindness, being kind is a character that we should have as God’s beloved children.

Let us spread kindness like confetti! Let’s glorify God by doing good.

Devotion for Parents
What do you have in mind when you are doing a good deed? Do you wish for the person to return the favor? How do you feel when someone whom you have helped in the past mistreats you instead?

Devotion for Kids
Is it okay to expect other people to return our kindness? Isn’t it very natural? What do you think?

Family Devotion Time
Find a story about a person who is kind without expecting anything in return. You may share a personal experience, someone else’s that you know well, or a story from the internet. Discuss what you can learn from the story and apply it in your life.
