The Bible In AustraliaSample

Although many nations exist among our first peoples, Australia marks its formation as a nation on January 26, 1901. At the Federation ceremony, the first Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia, Lord Hopetoun, was sworn in on a Bible given to him by the Bible Society. No nation is holy, except for the people of God, but all nations are wise to attend to God’s Word if they are to live in light rather than darkness.

As a Christian, do you think of yourself as “God’s special possession”? How might this knowledge change the decisions you make?

Heavenly Father, we ask that our nation may be mindful of you, turning to your Word for wisdom to lead us into light and away from darkness. Amen.
