You Are Created For...Sample
A while ago, I had the opportunity to spend a few days on a boat and it was really great. In the evening, we entered from the sea and sailed into the lake, searching for a suitable place to spend the night. The suitable place we could find was near the edge of the lake, close to rocks. It was also the most dangerous place. Luckily, if you have a very strong anchor, a good anchor, and the anchor holds well, then you can sleep peacefully.
Now, we need an anchor for our souls. More important than the anchor you need for a boat is the Anchor of your soul, because there are currents along our path, winds blowing, storms coming, and if your Anchor is not secure, it's life-threatening. And Jesus tells us what the Anchor is. He says: "Your anchor is My relationship with you and your relationship with Me. If it is secure, if you can hear what I am saying to you, if you accept My words and apply them in your life, then you will stand firm when the storms of life come your way.
We should not be surprised when storms come, because Jesus said it would come. We don't have to ask what's wrong with us. That's how life is. The author of Hebrews says we have an anchor - Jesus - who is secure, and who brings safety for us. We can go through this life and withstand anything if we have that Anchor that is secure.
No matter where you find yourself today, perhaps in your life you are in a big storm and the invitation is to pay attention to your rope and the anchor and make sure it's secure, because your life depends on your relationships. You are only as happy as you are in relationships, not on bank accounts, who you know, not what you have achieved in life. That's where our pain lies. That's where our healing lies. That's the nature of life and that's what Genesis is trying to tell us and spell out for us. How does life work? Who are we? What is it about? And the big message is that we are made by Him. We have come from a relationship, we are made for a relationship and we live in a relationship.
