Celebrating Your BaptismSample

No matter how long you’ve been a Christian, the death of Jesus is always hard to read. The pain He went through was born out of His love for you and me. Note what happens next in John 19:38-42: Joseph of Arimathea and Nicodemus (remember John chapter 3?) gathered the body of Jesus, wrapped Him in spices and linen garments according to Jewish burial tradition, and placed Him in the tomb.
If Jesus was not dead but faking it, the perfumed wrapping would have suffocated Him. Jesus really did die on the cross. Without these men, Jesus would have been left on the cross, buried in a criminal’s grave, or burned.
Instead, these men did what they thought to be correct, and it fulfilled Old Testament promises about Jesus’ death and resurrection. It is incredible how God uses small tasks to bring about big things! What has God been asking you to do in your conversations with Him?
