From the Cross to the World: Living Easter Every Day

DAY 2 OF 7

An Example of Service

The night before his crucifixion, Jesus shared a meal with his disciples. Then, he did the unthinkable: He took off his outer garment, wrapped a towel around his waist and began washing their feet. This was a job for the lowest servant in the house.

Peter couldn’t believe it. How could the Son of God lower himself to such a task? But Jesus explained: “I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you” (John 13:15).

In that moment, Jesus turned the world’s definition of greatness upside down. True greatness is not about status but service. True power is not about control but about love.

Serving others is rarely glamorous. It may mean doing things no one notices. It might require stepping into situations that are inconvenient or uncomfortable. But when we serve, we reveal the heart of Christ — a heart that bends low to lift others up.

Whether you’re caring for a child, sharing a meal, mentoring someone younger or supporting families in need, each act of service is a brushstroke in the picture of God’s love.

We follow a Savior who picked up a towel before he picked up a cross. When we do the same, we point people to him.

Reflection Question:

·What’s one act of humble service you could offer today?

·How can you use your resources — time, energy, skills — to lift up someone else?

Prayer:

Jesus, help me follow your example of humble service. Let my actions reflect your love, and use me to bring hope to others in quiet, faithful ways. Amen.

About this Plan

From the Cross to the World: Living Easter Every Day

Easter is more than a weekend. It’s the turning point of all history and the heartbeat of our daily lives. The cross shows us the depth of God’s love; the empty tomb reveals his unstoppable power. But the resurrection was never meant to be kept to ourselves. You’ll walk through Holy Week into Resurrection Sunday, exploring what it means to live in the hope of Easter every day. You’ll see how humility, service, surrender, compassion, and mission flow naturally from the risen Christ’s work in us. Each day includes Scripture, a reflection, practical application, and a prayer.
