NOTE: Each day, a prayer is written based on that day's Bible reading.

Dear Gracious Heavenly Father,

We come to you today in awe of who You are. Your love is supreme. Your justice is consistent. Your holiness is radiant. Your righteousness is perfection. We remember who You are and we worship You. At the same time, Your perfection creates great contrast with our character. While You are perfect, we are not. You are holy, we are sinful. And since Your justice is consistent, we know that all sin must be dealt with; and Your Word tells us that the wages of sin is death. We are in tremendous need!

But Lord, we thank you that Your love is supreme, and motivated by that love, You sent Your Son Jesus Christ to come to this world and to die on the cross, taking the penalty that our sins deserved. Because of Jesus' sacrifice for our souls, we can be forgiven. Your Word tells us that if we confess our sins, You are faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. So dear Father, we come to You now and confess our sins to You, seeking forgiveness for Jesus’ sake. May His death pay the price for our sins, and may His righteousness be graciously given to us.

And Lord, we know that Jesus’ invitation for us is to follow Him. May each of us repent of our sin and flee from it, giving sin no safe harbor in our lifestyles or thought life. And having repented of that sin, may we walk in Your ways now, in the power of Your Holy Spirit that lives within us.

May You be honored in our lives as we live for Your glory.
