God gives us His Spirit
“By this we know that we abide in Him and He in us, because He has given us of His Spirit.” (1 John 4:13 ESV)
God's love was most clearly visible when Jesus Christ was on earth. He was living proof that God loves people. But even after Jesus returned to heaven, we still have evidence of God's love: the presence of His Holy Spirit in us.
The moment we are born again, “born of God,” the Holy Spirit is working in us. When we notice His work in our lives, it is proof that God is truly with us.
The work of the Spirit in our lives is manifested in various ways. He shows us that we are sinful and need forgiveness. After all, we are not so quick to admit that on our own... He leads us to confess that Jesus is Lord (see 1 Corinthians 12:3). He gives believers various gifts of grace. He helps us to fight against sin and evil every day. He convinces us of the truth and fills us with love for God and fellow humans.
Not only outsiders will notice from our loving attitude that we are Jesus' followers (as we read yesterday in John 13:34-35). For ourselves, too, this can be an extra confirmation that God remains in us and we in Him.
