JESUS IS ENOUGH

There are those small, everyday moments when it would be so much easier to just think about yourself — when someone cuts in line at the checkout, or when you feel treated unfairly. In moments like this, our focus can quickly turn inward. And that’s exactly where God reminds us that our lives don’t have to revolve around ourselves.

A mirror is not a lamp. Its purpose isn’t to shine on its own — but to reflect the light that shines on it. That’s how Paul describes our lives, too: we’re not at the center. It’s not about us presenting ourselves or making ourselves great. We reflect what we look at. When Jesus is our focus, we will reflect His light — to others who don’t yet know Him. Our calling is to make Jesus visible. He is Lord — we are His servants. That’s an uncomfortable concept in a time when self-fulfillment is placed above everything else.

But in the end, the Jesus way is always the way of freedom. He lived it out Himself when He left heaven to walk the road to the cross on this earth. He became a servant to bring us freedom.

A Jesus-shaped life does not revolve around itself. We don’t have to prove ourselves or orbit our own needs. Because Jesus is enough, we are free.

Free to serve others.
Free to let the person in line go ahead of us.
Free to respond kindly instead of snapping back.
Free to focus on what God wants to do.

Jesus said that we should seek first God’s kingdom and His will, and then He will take care of everything else. That means you don’t have to secure your own life. When you take care of what matters to God, He will take care of what matters to you.

We live in a time that tells us, “Look out for yourself first, or you’ll be left behind.” But the Gospel turns that logic upside down. Because Jesus takes care of us, we are free to live for others.

That attitude changes how we live. Instead of constantly focusing on our own needs, we can invest in others. Those who understand that Jesus is enough can live generously.

Decide today to consciously turn your gaze away from yourself and toward others. Look for opportunities to serve — trusting that Jesus will take care of you.
