DAY 12 OF 20

As humans, we often experience God’s goodness through our limited perspective. Sure, we believe that God is good. We’ve heard it said a million times, and, as Christians, we confess it to be true. When life goes as planned, we certainly feel like it’s true. When we get a promotion at work, our prayers for our marriage are answered, or our kids make good choices, we celebrate those events as evidence of God’s goodness in our lives. But what happens when things change? When we get fired, or our marriage begins to struggle, or our kids start walking down the wrong path, then what do we think of God’s goodness? Chances are, we begin to wonder if God has ever really been good to us. Thankfully, the answer is simple and true: God has always been and will always be good. In our limited understanding, that truth can sometimes be hard to believe. Still, when we see the world through God’s eyes—when we see the abundance of God's promise to those who follow and believe—we can begin to believe in that goodness outside our circumstances. Then we can see His goodness for what it really is.

Today, pray that God would open your eyes to see His goodness in your life. No matter your circumstances, feelings, or struggles, pray that you would see and believe in God’s unending, abundant goodness.

About this Plan

Always

As humans, we all wonder what God is really like? Is God kind, loving, powerful, attentive, loyal? Is God distant, unfair, harsh, judgmental, or absent? In other words, we’re asking: what can we be sure is always true about who God is? In this devotional, we’ll look to Scripture to explore those questions and ground the answers in unshakeable, unchangeable truth, uncovering more about who God is and why we can trust Him not just now, but always.
