What Does It Mean to Be Human?Sample

Christ holds it all together
Life often feels chaotic. We see the fractures around us: wars raging, communities divided, creation groaning, families in turmoil. On a personal level, many of us wrestle with anxiety, uncertainty about the future, or the feeling that life is spinning out of control. It’s easy to believe that chaos is winning.
But Paul lifts our eyes to Jesus. He reminds us that Christ is not only the source of creation but the sustainer of it. “Everything got started in Him and finds its purpose in Him… and He holds it all together right up to this moment.” Chaos is not the final word – Christ is.
This truth doesn’t erase our pain but it reframes it. When the world feels like it’s unravelling, we can remember: Jesus is the anchor. He is not a distant God who set things in motion and left them to run wild. He is present, active, and holding the universe – and our lives – together.
Think about this: every breath you take is sustained by Him. Every sunrise testifies that He is still at work. The very laws of nature hold because He wills it so. If Christ can hold galaxies in place, He can hold your life – even the parts that feel frayed or fragile.
Participation begins here: trusting that Jesus is Lord, not trusting the headlines, our fears or our failures. To say “Christ holds it all together” is not just a theological statement – it’s a declaration of faith in the middle of uncertainty. In Him, we find purpose, peace and stability in a shaky world.
Reflection:
Where do I most feel like life is unravelling right now? How can I rest in the truth that Christ is holding me together in this moment?
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, help me to trust that you hold all things together. When I feel overwhelmed by chaos, remind me that you are steady, sure and sovereign. Amen.
