What Does It Mean to Be Human?

DAY 15 OF 21

Christ brings peace through the Cross

Everywhere we look, we see brokenness – nations in conflict, neighbourhoods divided, relationships strained and hearts weighed down by guilt or grief. It feels like everything is fragmented. But Paul declares astonishing news: through the cross, Christ is bringing all things back together.

This reconciliation is cosmic. It doesn’t just touch our souls – it reaches the very fabric of creation. The “broken and dislocated pieces” of the universe are being healed, restored and fitted into harmony through Jesus’ death and resurrection.

And this is not our achievement – it is His. Peace does not come from our striving but from Christ’s sacrifice. He has already accomplished reconciliation; our role is to receive it and then extend it.

Participation begins with receiving peace, allowing God to heal the fractured parts of our lives, forgive our sin and restore our relationship with Him. But it doesn’t stop there. We are also called to extend peace – to be reconcilers in our families, communities, workplaces and world. This could mean forgiving someone who wronged us, building bridges across divides or standing for justice where there is oppression.

The cross doesn’t just reconcile us to God; it calls us to carry reconciliation into the world.

Reflection:
Where do I need to experience Christ’s peace in my own life today? How can I extend that peace to someone else?

Prayer:
Prince of Peace, thank you for reconciling me through the cross. Heal the broken pieces of my life and make me an instrument of your peace. Show me where I can bring harmony into a fractured world.

About this Plan

What Does It Mean to Be Human?

What does it mean to be truly human? In a world obsessed with success, appearance and achievement, it’s easy to forget that our worth is not measured by what we do, own or accomplish. Journeying through Genesis, Psalms, the gospels and Daniel, this 21 day devotional series will bring you back to a simple truth: we are made in God’s image, deeply loved, and created with purpose.
