People Like Hushai that Represents

Award decision meetings are often very interesting in academic institutions. People wrongly assume that those decisions are purely based on merit. But when there are many eligible candidates, merit alone is not enough to make a decision. At that point, those who emerged had someone who spoke for them. This was the ministry of Hushai to David.

David had sent Hushai back to the city when they fled from Absalom. He knew that there would be strategic meetings about how to pursue and capture him and his loyalists. There are several places where people's matters are discussed. It may be to give a job, contract, award, admission, or position. It may be in a disciplinary setting. There, one cannot speak for oneself, yet decisions from there would impact one's life. Gamaliel assumed this role for the Apostles. He spoke for them when the other members of the Sahendrin wanted to kill them. This is also the ministry of Jesus today; He speaks before the Father on our behalf. But He also uses people.

You need a Hushai who represents you where you have no voice. Your journey might be unnecessarily long or difficult without the ministry of Hushais. Pray that they will speak when life-impacting decisions are made about you. Pray to experience their ministry in your journey. Pray that God will plant them at the right place for your life.
