Prayer for Help

DAY 5 OF 5

People Like Abishai that Rescues

All humans have limitations, breaking points or weaknesses. And when we reach that point, we can become vulnerable and helpless. At such a time, we need help that will sustain, defend, and renew us. This is the ministry of Abishai.

In today's passage, David almost died in battle. The Bible noted that the strong warrior-king became exhausted in battle. If this exhaustion came when there was little at stake, he could leave and reenter the battle later. But the Bible said Ishbi-benob, a giant, intended to kill him. There was no time to rest. Just at that time, Abishai came to David's aid and killed the giant.

There are times when the strongest of men becomes weak and vulnerable. If God does not raise help at those times, it may be the end. But the testimony of the Scripture is that God does not leave His children hanging. He raises help for them when they are weak. The Holy Spirit helps us when we are weak. He also inspires people to come to our rescue at critical times.

You need an Abishai who comes to your aid at the right time. This is a person who takes it upon herself to pray and hold your hand up in the battle of life. This is a person set to assist you at the right time. Don't live an isolated life. You cannot do life by yourself. Pray that you will not lack such a person. Pray that God raises such help for you when you need it. Rise and pray.

Pray:

  • Father, raise help for me when I am weak in Jesus' name.
  • Father, raise me as an Abishai for others around me in Jesus' name

About this Plan

Prayer for Help

David was a man mightily helped. At every junction in his life, he enjoyed God's help. But these help came from people God raised in his life. As we embark on this journey to pray, we will contemplate Some of these people and the help they released to David. From there, we will take issues for our prayer.
