Deep Wells & Empty Cups: A 5-Day Journey to Learning to Be Okay With Not Being Okay & Finding Your Way Back to the Well

DAY 3 OF 5

There’s something to be said about a person who acknowledges, surrenders, processes, and then decides to go all in on getting healthy. You’ve seen it across so many areas, from fitness to finance, but for some reason, the spiritual process feels much more tiring! It’s not hard to surmise that the enemy of our souls wishes above all things that our souls not prosper and be in good health.

To be honest, that’s probably why you may have all things, yet can remain bound, sad, depressed, up one day and down the next. Today, I want us to sit here: Jesus wants you to have access to the well that is overflowing. To the place in God where you can take a drink and never be thirsty again! He wants us to know where the Well is and be willing to do whatever it takes to get there.

No matter how many times we need to come back, He promised it would never run dry. I can imagine him sitting and talking with the woman at the well (John 4), maybe even his slight smile when she seems confused by his mention of a well that never runs dry, then the light bulb that goes on when she realizes he is serious! She changes her mind and, in real time, says, “Sir, give me this water.” And right there, we discover the power of communication, the power of speaking up and saying, “hey, I’m not okay,” and the power of community.

I appreciate this example because it shows that we have power when we speak up and when we invite Jesus. We have power when we invite community in. Today, I want us to acknowledge that we can’t do this work alone.

Getting to the Well may be a solo mission, but staying there and getting what you need may require willing hands to hold you up for a drink when you’re too tired to stand on your own. It may look like friends who are willing to bring a drink to you when you can’t even get out of bed. There’s power in numbers!

We’re going to focus today on identifying who can hold you up.

Grab a note in your phone or a piece of paper and jot down 2-3 names. Now, we’re going to take those names and share your heart with them. Be willing to invite them in and let them know you’re empty and need help getting to the Well. They will offer prayer support, and it’s important that you don’t reject it, okay?

{SAY THIS} I will have the courage today to tell someone other than Jesus that I am not okay and that I need help getting to the Well. Today, I claim victory over silence and crush the enemy’s plan to keep me bound. Today, I am victorious, even if I don’t feel like it.
