Wind & Fire - ReflectionsSample

Written by Javier De La Rosa - Discipleship Minister at City on a Hill Melbourne
“Behold, the days are coming, declares the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and the house of Judah, not like the covenant that I made with their fathers on the day when I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt, my covenant that they broke, though I was their husband, declares the Lord. For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, declares the Lord: I will put my law within them, and I will write it on their hearts. And I will be their God, and they shall be my people. And no longer shall each one teach his neighbour and each his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord,’ for they shall all know me, from the least of them to the greatest, declares the Lord. For I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.” - Jeremiah 31:31-34 (ESV)
One of the most remarkable promises of God is found in Jeremiah 31:31-34. God promises a new covenant, not written on tablets of stone, but written on our hearts. This promise finds its ultimate fulfilment in Jesus, and with it comes the gift of the Holy Spirit.
The Spirit does not simply nudge us toward better behaviour; He transforms us from the inside out. He makes it possible for our hearts to love God, to love others, and to live in a way that reveals His glory. Through the Spirit, we are empowered with gifts of wisdom, service, encouragement, faith, healing, and many others, so that our lives point others to Jesus.
Reflect:
Based on today’s reading:
How is the Holy Spirit inviting me to respond today, for God’s glory and the good of others?
Pray:
Holy Spirit, thank You for dwelling in me. Bless me with a sensitivity to the Spirit’s leading. Transform my heart so that Your gifts can flow through me. Teach me to love, serve, and witness to the world in ways that reveal Jesus. Amen.

About this Plan

Wind & Fire is a devotional journey written by Javier de la Rosa to help you understand and pursue the spiritual gifts God gives his church. This series explores how the spiritual gifts are given for the mission of Jesus. You will study the gifts by looking at the church’s missional activities of love, presence, formation, freedom, witness and multiplication. Each devotion invites you to open the Scriptures, open your heart and ask the Holy Spirit for fresh power, fresh gifts and fresh wind and fire.
