Wind & Fire - ReflectionsSample

Written by Javier De La Rosa - Discipleship Minister at City on a Hill Melbourne
“And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit.” - 2 Corinthians 3:18 (ESV)
Few things are as striking as watching rain fall on a dry and lifeless desert. What once seemed barren slowly begins to soften. Cracks close, seeds awaken, and signs of life emerge where none seemed possible. Transformation does not happen all at once, but over time, as the water continues to flow, the land is changed.
Paul tells us that this is how the Holy Spirit works in us. As we behold the glory of the Lord, the Spirit is quietly, faithfully transforming us into the likeness of Christ from one degree of glory to another. This is not self-effort or spiritual striving. It is the work of God’s grace, applied patiently and powerfully by the Spirit.
The Spirit does not only renew us individually; He shapes us together. Through the gifts of grace given to the church, teaching, encouragement, wisdom, service, and prayer, the life of Christ flows among God’s people. Like rivers in a dry land, these gifts bring renewal, growth, and beauty, transforming not only hearts but communities.
Formation, then, is a long obedience of grace. As we remain open to the Spirit’s work and present to one another in community, God continues to make us more like Jesus. What once felt dry begins to flourish, and others are refreshed as they encounter the life of Christ at work in us.
Reflect:
Based on today’s reading:
How is the Holy Spirit inviting me to respond today, for God’s glory and the good of others?
Pray:
Holy Spirit, thank You for Your patient and powerful work in my life. Keep my heart open to Your transforming grace. As You shape me into the likeness of Christ, use my life to bring refreshment and life to those around me. Amen.

About this Plan

Wind & Fire is a devotional journey written by Javier de la Rosa to help you understand and pursue the spiritual gifts God gives his church. This series explores how the spiritual gifts are given for the mission of Jesus. You will study the gifts by looking at the church’s missional activities of love, presence, formation, freedom, witness and multiplication. Each devotion invites you to open the Scriptures, open your heart and ask the Holy Spirit for fresh power, fresh gifts and fresh wind and fire.
