DAY 10 OF 14

Approaching God with Reverence

I spent over a decade in corporate America, and one lesson I learned the hard way was this: you don’t rush into a meeting unprepared, especially when it matters. Preparation shows respect. It communicates that you value the people in the room and the purpose of the meeting. Walking in carelessly or unready sends the opposite message.

That principle helps us understand what God is teaching through the instructions for the priesthood.

God gives detailed guidance for the priests, emphasizing holiness, intentionality, and responsibility. They are set apart not for personal recognition or status, but to represent the people before a holy God. Their role required preparation of heart, conduct, and obedience, because they were serving in God’s presence. These instructions remind us that approaching God is never casual. Reverence matters.

This doesn’t mean God is distant or unapproachable. It means He is holy. His holiness invites us to come with humility, gratitude, and awe. God desires leaders—and followers, whose lives reflect His character, not just in public moments, but in private faithfulness. Preparation of the heart honors the One we are meeting with.

When we recognize who God is, we don’t rush past His presence. We slow down. We prepare. We come ready to listen, worship, and obey.

Respond to God’s Word:

  • How does God’s holiness shape the way you approach Him today?
