Exodus: Chapter by ChapterSample

An Invitation with Intention
I’ve noticed how often we say things like, “We should get together sometime,” or “Let’s grab lunch soon.” Many times, those words are simply polite conversation rather than a definite plan. I’ve both received and given invitations like that. And usually, the difference between someone who truly wants to get together and someone who doesn’t is clear in the details, the follow-up, the planning, the care, the intentionality. Real invitations cost something. They reflect desire.
God’s invitations are never casual or empty.
When God gives instructions for the tabernacle, every detail matters. Measurements, materials, placement, nothing is random. Why? Because the tabernacle represents God’s desire to dwell among His people. He isn’t distant or disengaged. He is intentional about being close. Each detail reflects His holiness and His longing to be present with those He has redeemed.
This shows us something powerful about God’s heart: when He invites us into His presence, He truly means it. He prepares a place. He makes a way. He chooses to dwell with His people, not from afar, but in their midst. Worship begins when we recognize that God is near, not just in sacred spaces, but in everyday moments.
The question isn’t whether God desires closeness. He’s already shown that He does. The real question is whether we are attentive enough to notice His presence in our daily lives.
Respond to God’s Word:
- How can you become more aware of God’s presence in your daily life?
