Overcoming Fear This EasterSample

Overcoming Fear This Easter

DAY 1 OF 5

When I Fear I’m Not Enough

The fear of not having or being enough is more common than we like to admit. Sometimes it shows up as worrying about basic things: food, money, or stability. Other times it appears in more subtle ways: constant comparison, dissatisfaction, or the feeling that other people’s lives always look better than ours.

Today that fear is easily fed. Social media shows us edited versions of life: smiling families, perfect bodies, successful ministries, and dream vacations. Without realizing it, we begin measuring our happiness by someone else’s standards and we feel like what we have is never enough.

Jesus also faced expectations. When He entered Jerusalem, many people expected a powerful king—with an army and visible glory. They expected a “successful” version of the Messiah. But Jesus chose a donkey. He chose simplicity. He chose obedience to the Father instead of meeting human expectations.

Jesus knew what was coming: rejection, pain, and sacrifice. Even so, He did not try to appear strong or hide His purpose behind a grand image. His peace did not depend on the crowd’s approval, but on His full trust in God.

True satisfaction does not come from having more, appearing more, or comparing less. It comes from resting in the One who is enough, even when our life doesn’t seem like it. Only God can give us deep joy, real contentment. And today God invites you to trust.

Application

Take a moment to reflect:

  • In what areas of your life do you feel like “it’s not enough”?
  • Who do you compare yourself to most often?
  • What expectations are you carrying that God never asked you to fulfill?

Prayer

Lord, I recognize that many times I live comparing myself and fearing that I don’t have enough. Forgive me for measuring my value and happiness by standards that do not come from You. Help me rest in what You have already given me and trust that You are enough for me. Teach me to live with gratitude, peace, and contentment; even when my life doesn’t look perfect. Amen.

Thought of the Day: True satisfaction is not found in having more, but in trusting more.

About this Plan

Overcoming Fear This Easter

Life is full of fears: not being enough, failing, showing vulnerability, facing pain, or taking the risk to love. In this 5-day plan, you will walk through several passages from Easter Week and discover how Jesus faced those same fears—and how His example, sacrifice, and resurrection invite us to live with confidence, honesty, and hope. A devotional from Equip and Grow for those who desire a more real faith and a life guided by God, not by fear. Written by Kristi Krauss and Marlene Martinez.
