Overcoming Fear This EasterSample

When I Fear Suffering
Pain is one of the greatest human fears. We fear what we cannot control: illness, loss, suffering. We live in a world marked by pain, and often we don’t know how to face it.
Jesus also felt that fear. In Gethsemane, He prayed that the pain might be removed, but He chose to trust the Father. He did not deny suffering—He faced it with obedience and love.
The cross was not an accident or a defeat. It was a decision. Jesus remained there to carry our sin, our guilt, and our pain. His sacrifice opened the way so we do not face suffering alone.
Trusting God does not mean pain disappears, but that it now has meaning and companionship. God does not always remove pain, but He never abandons us in it.
Application
Think today:
- What pain or fear are you carrying?
- What is hardest for you to surrender to God?
- What does it mean to trust even in the middle of suffering?
Prayer
Jesus, thank You for not running from pain and for carrying mine. Today I place my fears, wounds, and struggles before You. Help me trust, even when I don’t understand. I rest in Your love and sacrifice. Amen.
Thought of the Day: The cross reminds us that God does not flee from pain—He redeems it.
About this Plan

Life is full of fears: not being enough, failing, showing vulnerability, facing pain, or taking the risk to love. In this 5-day plan, you will walk through several passages from Easter Week and discover how Jesus faced those same fears—and how His example, sacrifice, and resurrection invite us to live with confidence, honesty, and hope. A devotional from Equip and Grow for those who desire a more real faith and a life guided by God, not by fear. Written by Kristi Krauss and Marlene Martinez.
