Overcoming Fear This EasterSample

Overcoming Fear This Easter

DAY 2 OF 5

When I Fear Failure

The fear of failure can paralyze us more than failure itself. It’s not just the mistake we fear, but what others will think of us when we fail. That’s why we often avoid trying anything new; like new callings, new relationships, or new steps of faith.

Peter was different. Sometimes impulsive, sometimes insecure, but always willing to try. He walked on water… and sank. He promised absolute loyalty… and denied Jesus three times. Peter failed publicly and painfully.

Jesus knew Peter would fail. And still, He called him, loved him, and shaped him. Peter’s failure did not define him; it was part of his process. Years later, that same Peter would become a strong and courageous leader in the church.

God is not looking for people who never fail, but for people willing to rise again and keep going. Fear of failure steals opportunities, growth, and purpose. Failing does not cancel you; quitting can.

Application

Reflect today:

  • What have you stopped trying because of the fear of failure?
  • What past mistake are you still using to define yourself?
  • What small step could you take today, even with fear?

Prayer

Lord, I acknowledge that many times I let fear of failure govern my decisions. Help me remember that You do not define me by my mistakes, but by Your grace. Give me courage to try, humility to learn, and faith to keep going even when I fail. Amen.

Thought of the Day: God does not cancel those who fail; He forms those who persevere.

About this Plan

Overcoming Fear This Easter

Life is full of fears: not being enough, failing, showing vulnerability, facing pain, or taking the risk to love. In this 5-day plan, you will walk through several passages from Easter Week and discover how Jesus faced those same fears—and how His example, sacrifice, and resurrection invite us to live with confidence, honesty, and hope. A devotional from Equip and Grow for those who desire a more real faith and a life guided by God, not by fear. Written by Kristi Krauss and Marlene Martinez.
