Overcoming Fear This EasterSample

Overcoming Fear This Easter

DAY 3 OF 5

When I Fear Being Vulnerable

Honesty is scary. Showing ourselves as we truly are involves the risk of not being accepted. So we learn to wear masks: fake smiles, automatic answers, carefully edited lives.

Jesus stood before Pilate in one of the most intense moments of His life. Falsely accused, rejected by the crowd, with suffering just ahead. It would have been understandable if He had denied His identity. But when Pilate asked who He was, Jesus responded with truth.

Jesus’ honesty did not protect Him from pain, but it kept Him faithful to His identity and mission. Living a false life exhausts the soul. True connection—with God and with others—can only be born when we are real.

Being vulnerable does not mean telling everything to everyone, but it does mean stopping the habit of living hidden. God cannot heal what we pretend we don’t have.

Application

Ask yourself:

  • With whom are you truly yourself?
  • What emotions or struggles are you hiding?
  • What mask do you need to remove today before God?

Prayer

Lord, You know me completely, and still You love me. Help me stop hiding, and be honest with You and with the right people. Give me wisdom to open my heart and courage to live with integrity. Amen.

Thought of the Day: Freedom begins when we stop pretending.

About this Plan

Overcoming Fear This Easter

Life is full of fears: not being enough, failing, showing vulnerability, facing pain, or taking the risk to love. In this 5-day plan, you will walk through several passages from Easter Week and discover how Jesus faced those same fears—and how His example, sacrifice, and resurrection invite us to live with confidence, honesty, and hope. A devotional from Equip and Grow for those who desire a more real faith and a life guided by God, not by fear. Written by Kristi Krauss and Marlene Martinez.
