When You Need Hope

DAY 1 OF 7

Day 1: Hope for This Very Day

Sometimes, life’s hardships can weary even the strongest Believers. They can slowly drain from us the hope of a brighter tomorrow here on Earth.

Clinically defined, hopelessness is “a loss of confidence that future events or occurrences will be positive” (Medical Dictionary). Hopelessness is described as a state in which someone sees limited options, or none at all, to change their current situation, and they can’t muster the energy to act on their own behalf.

You have taken a significant step by subscribing to this devotional Bible Reading Plan. That’s so great!

Regardless of why your hope candle is flickering, know this: God is the Master Hope Giver – not just for the ultimate hope of Heaven, but also for you today, right here, right now. And He doesn’t reserve His hope only for those who haven’t made a mess of their lives.

In fact, God sent the greatest gift of hope – Jesus – to us while we were at our very worst, in the full depth of our sin. Romans 5:8 tells us that “God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Messiah died for us” (Romans 5:8 TLV). God loves us without holding back, and He dispenses hope in the same way.

Hopelessness has its own language, according to the organization named Suicide.org, and its discouraging negativity can send us spiraling into despair. We need weapons to fight against it. Ephesians 6:17 says that our weapon is the Word of God. Starting tomorrow, each day, we’ll look at some of the things hopelessness says and explore God’s hope-giving answers to them.

For today, take this hope into your heart:

●God loves you just where and how you are

●One day, He will wipe away your every tear

●The glory we’ll see then really will far outweigh this life’s suffering

●God is able to fill you with hope today as you trust Him

●He is with you in the midst of your situation

Read the scriptures included after this devotion. And cling to the Lord. Cling to what is good.

Stay tuned, beloved.

Prayer

Father, please help our friend receive Your hope and know that You are for them. Cause Your hope to settle deep into their soul. Help them cling to You and to every good thing in their day as a sign of Your great love. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
