When You Need Hope

DAY 6 OF 7

Day 6: You Have a Bright Future

Hopelessness says: “The future is empty for me.”

GOD SAYS: “For I know the plans that I have in mind for you,” declares Adonai, “plans for shalom and not calamity—to give you a future and a hope” (Jeremiah 29:11 TLV).

The kingdom of Judah was about to be taken captive to Babylon. God had told them, through the prophet Jeremiah, to settle in there, build houses, and live their lives, because they would be there for 70 years. He also promised that after that time, He would bring them back home – because He had good plans for their future.

This promise of a hopeful future was given to the people of Judah in a specific situation. However, it also applies to everyone who believes in Jesus as their Savior. God has a plan to bless you, friend. This situation you’re in does not nullify His good plans for your future. This disappointment, pain, or difficulty does not cancel God’s design of good things yet to come for you.

We know that fullness of life awaits us in Heaven – and that truly is something exciting to look forward to – but it is also available to us here, today. God wants you to thrive in Him during this life as well, and He says it’s possible.

Yet, it's important to know that we have an enemy who wants to keep us believing there is no hope for brighter days. He wants to keep you from the life and freedom Jesus gave you when He died and rose again. Don’t let him. You are so valuable, so precious, and God has put great things inside you– by design– so that you can live out His purposes for you. Those purposes include the hope-filled joys of you drawing close to Him and deeply knowing His tremendous love for you – today, tomorrow, and all your days.

Whether looking at your distant future in Heaven or your future here on Earth, God has bright and beautiful plans for you. You can trust that.

Prayer

Lord of Heaven and Earth, open the eyes of our friend’s heart to know that You would never leave them without a hopeful future. Protect them from the enemy’s lies and strengthen them to get past this current season. Fill them with excitement to see Your good plans unfold in their future.

About this Plan

When You Need Hope

Life is hard, and sometimes it hurts – a lot. Sometimes, it overwhelms us and drains the hope right out of us. This seven-day Bible reading plan will help you find your hope again. It takes a look at some of what hopelessness “says” and reveals what God says instead – stuff you can hang onto and count on, things to assure you: there is hope for you.
