Day 1 – God Is The Same
The resurrection of Jesus is the bursting forth of a new creation. Yet before we embrace what is new, we must first trust who God is. The resurrection does not mean God has changed his mind about humanity. It means he has revealed his heart more fully.
Hebrews tells us that Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
Easter is not God becoming loving; it is love unveiled. The cross and resurrection are not divine improvisations. They are the eternal character of God stepping into history. What we see in the risen Christ is who God has always been: self-giving, faithful, and relentlessly redemptive.
John writes that no one has seen God, but the Son has made him known. The Greek word implies “to narrate” or “to explain fully” who God is. If we want to know what God is like, we look at the crucified and risen Christ, and what do we see? Not vengeance and wrath, but mercy. Not abandonment, but pursuit. Not defeat, but life breaking through death.
Easter teaches us that new creation flows from an unchanging Creator. Because God is constant, renewal is possible. Because his character remains consistent, his promises remain firm. The empty tomb does not announce a new personality in God; it announces the triumph of the God who has always been restoring.
The empty tomb proclaims that the God who formed the world is the same God who restores it. He does not discard, he rescues. He does not abandon; he adopts.
Before we celebrate what is becoming new in our lives, let us worship the One who has always been faithful. the same yesterday. The same today. The same forever.
And because he is the same, even the most broken parts of our lives can be made new.
Questions to Reflect On
- When you look at what Jesus has done, what does it reveal to you about what God The Father is truly like?
- How does knowing that Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and forever change the way you trust God today?
Live it Out
Create a table with three columns: YESTERDAY, TODAY, and FOREVER. At the top of the page, write/type Hebrews 13:8 and pray.
Under the column YESTERDAY, write down a past season where you saw God’s faithfulness, a prayer he answered, a time he carried you through.
Under the column TODAY, a current struggle, an uncertainty, and something that doesn’t feel “new” yet.
Under the column FOREVER, write down a promise of God you’re holding onto and a hope you believe He will fulfill.
