DAY 2 OF 5

Day 2 – Made New: Our Identity in Christ

Because of Jesus’ death and resurrection, we are made new.

The resurrection is not just an event to remember; it is a reality to live from. When Jesus rose, he didn’t simply give us another chance to do better. He gave us a new beginning. New life is not something we work toward; it is something we step into.

We all carry something: regrets, failures, sin, seasons we wish looked different. Over time, those experiences can become labels. Failure. Not enough. Disqualified. Too broken. Those labels quietly shape how we see ourselves and even how we approach God.

But the resurrection speaks a stronger word.

It declares that what Jesus did outweighs what we have done. It declares that before we feel different, before growth becomes visible, heaven already calls us new. We are not living from our lowest moment; we are living from his victory.

This is grace. Jesus was sinless, yet he took the punishment meant for us. He stepped into our guilt so we could step into freedom. He carried our shame so we could stand secure as children of God. Our new life was not earned; it was given.

So we are not striving to create a new identity. We are learning to live from the one who is already secure. We are not defined by our worst day. We are not defined by the names we once believed.

Because of Jesus, we are made new, and that truth stands, whether our feelings have caught up to it or not.

Questions to Reflect On

  1. What does living from Jesus’ victory look like, according to the Scriptures?
  2. In what area of my life do I need to stop living from my lowest moment and start living from Jesus’ victory?

Live it Out

Identify one label you still carry that Jesus did not give you. Write it down. Then replace it with the truth found in Scripture. List practical ways that you can live out the truth of Jesus in your life, share it with a friend to help keep you accountable, and live in that truth, even if it is hard to believe at the start.
