Like a Tree – Devotional

DAY 27 OF 30

YOUR TOOLS

Your Tools for Fruitfulness

“Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others…” - 1 Peter 4:10 (NIV)
“Those who refresh others will themselves be refreshed.” - Proverbs 11:25 (NIV)

Big Idea: God entrusted you with tools—words, talents, and resources—so others are able to thrive and seeds can multiply.

A healthy tree doesn’t hoard. It gives shade, fruit, shelter, and oxygen. And it gives broadly. The fruit falls for whoever is there: child, stranger, bird, neighbor. No favoritism. No conditions.

That’s a mirror for our lives. God’s gifts in you are not private trophies; they are public tools. Your skills, your time, your experience, your money, your hospitality, and your leadership are all just fruit for the world God has placed around you.

This is where many adults get stuck. Either we withhold out of self-protection, or we overextend out of guilt. But biblical fruitfulness is neither hoarding nor burnout. It steadily gives form a rooted life. That fruitfulness is generous with wisdom, loving without partiality, and it serves as an extension of Jesus.

You don’t need a platform to be fruitful. You need a willing heart and a simple plan.

Reflection Questions:

  1. Which tool is God prompting you to use more intentionally: words, talent/skills, or resources?
  2. Who is someone you tend to overlook—but God is placing within your reach?
  3. What is one act of generosity you will commit to this week that is specific and measurable?

Prayer Focus: Father, make me a conduit of Your love. Help me give wisely, serve freely, and bear fruit that nourishes others and glorifies You.

About this Plan

Like a Tree – Devotional

Psalm 1 describes the person who is like a tree planted by streams of water, whose leaves do not wither and who yields fruit in season. They are privately healthy, deeply planted and rooted in the Lord, and publicly fruitful. But how do we live like a tree? This 10-week devotional dives into the key principles of being rooted in God, delighting in His Word, and bearing lasting fruit for His Kingdom.
