Like a Tree – DevotionalSample

YOUR POSITION
Positioned to Preserve Life
“Fight the good fight of the faith.” - 1 Timothy 6:12 (NIV)
“You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you…” - John 15:16 (NIV)
“Planted in the house of the Lord, they will flourish…” - Psalm 92:13 (NIV)
Big Idea: God appointed and positioned you—your standing is part of how He preserves life in the people around you.
Positioning matters. A tree doesn’t randomly sprout; it’s seeded and planted. In the same way, God has placed you—your home, work, church, neighborhood, relationships—not just for your benefit, but for the fruitfulness and preservation of others.
When you stand, others survive. When you stay, others grow. When you endure, others are nourished. Your faithfulness becomes part of God’s ecosystem of grace—creating “shade” where life is harsh, stability where people are shaken, and hope where others feel like quitting.
The call is simple and costly: take your position. Don’t appoint yourself; be planted where God placed you. Fight the good fight—not against people, but for faith, for freedom, for family, for the kingdom. There are seasons when your greatest ministry is simply refusing to move.
Reflection Questions:
- Where has God clearly positioned you right now—and what would it look like to stand there with loyalty?
- Who is strengthened because you remain faithful (spouse, children, friends, church, coworkers, future generations)?
- What is one “fight of faith” you must keep fighting this week—personally, for others, or for the kingdom?
Prayer Focus: Father, strengthen me in Your power. Teach me to stand with truth, peace, faith, and Your Word—fully covered in Christ.

About this Plan

Psalm 1 describes the person who is like a tree planted by streams of water, whose leaves do not wither and who yields fruit in season. They are privately healthy, deeply planted and rooted in the Lord, and publicly fruitful. But how do we live like a tree? This 10-week devotional dives into the key principles of being rooted in God, delighting in His Word, and bearing lasting fruit for His Kingdom.
