DAY 23 OF 30

YOUR BRANCHES

The Refreshing Rhythm of Healthy Service

“Those who refresh others will themselves be refreshed.” - Proverbs 11:25 (NIV)
“Whatever you do… do it all… for the glory of God.” - 1 Corinthians 10:31 (NIV)

Big Idea: Service in Christ is meant to renew you, not ruin you—when it comes from abiding, not striving.

Many of us carry a quiet fear: If I keep giving, I’ll be depleted. That fear is commonly rooted in real experiences. We can overburden ourselves, we can feel unappreciated, we can serve without feeling supported, or try to meet needs that were never ours to carry.

But biblical service has a different engine. It’s not ego, guilt, or image. It’s love flowing from a rooted life. When your roots are fed by healthy sources like prayer, Scripture, worship, rest, and community, your service becomes an overflow. You’re no longer trying to manufacture fruit; you’re merely distributing what you’ve received.

This doesn’t erase limits. Love actually includes and operates with wisdom. Love learns when to say yes, when to say no, and when to ask others to carry the load with you. The promise isn’t that you’ll never be tired, it’s that God can refresh you in the very act of loving well.

Reflection Questions:

  1. Do you tend to under-serve (self-protection) or over-serve (control/people-pleasing)? What’s beneath that?
  2. What would it look like to serve from overflow this season (rooted first, then reaching)?
  3. Where do you need to invite God’s refreshing—emotionally, spiritually, physically?

Prayer Focus: Father, teach me sustainable love. Help me refresh others while staying rooted, wise, and free.

About this Plan

Like a Tree – Devotional

Psalm 1 describes the person who is like a tree planted by streams of water, whose leaves do not wither and who yields fruit in season. They are privately healthy, deeply planted and rooted in the Lord, and publicly fruitful. But how do we live like a tree? This 10-week devotional dives into the key principles of being rooted in God, delighting in His Word, and bearing lasting fruit for His Kingdom.
