Bigger Than Us

DAY 12 OF 30

True friendship isn’t just about shared laughter, fun memories, or common interests. According to Proverbs 17:17, a real friend’s love doesn’t fade when life gets hard—in fact, that’s when it shines the brightest. But so often, when someone is going through a difficult season, we back away. Not because we don’t care, but because we’re uncomfortable with their pain.

But genuine friends are steady through the highs and lows, standing beside you not only when things go well, but when everything seems to fall apart. We are reminded that love is proven in adversity. The “brother” mentioned here represents those relationships—whether through family or faith—that God gives us to help carry our burdens when we’re weary. It’s a picture of God’s own steadfast love reflected through the people He places in our lives.

Who has shown you love and loyalty during a difficult time? How can you be that kind of faithful friend to someone who is struggling right now? This week, take time to reach out to one friend who might be going through a tough season. Send a message, make a call, or stop by in person just to encourage them. And remember—when we love others consistently, not just conveniently, we become living examples of God’s unchanging love.

About this Plan

Bigger Than Us

The real challenge in life is not how well we start but how we stay faithful over time. In this devotional, we will journey with God’s people as they move from brokenness to renewal. We’ll meet a God who uses personal burdens, teamwork, perseverance through opposition, His Word, and lifelong faithfulness to accomplish His purposes. When the opposition feels too strong, there’s a bigger God who meets us in the middle of it all—a God who works in and through ordinary people.
