Bigger Than UsSample

These words come from Jesus’ final conversation with His disciples before the cross—a moment heavy with love, urgency, and sacrifice. He didn’t merely suggest love; He commanded it. And not just any kind of love—His kind of love. Jesus’ love wasn’t based on convenience or comfort. It was costly, selfless, and unconditional. He laid down His life not just for perfect friends, but for flawed, fearful, sometimes faithless followers. This kind of love moves beyond emotion to action—it chooses to serve, forgive, and stay even when it hurts.
To “love as Jesus loved” means we open our hearts to people who may never return the favor, extend grace where it isn’t deserved, and give of ourselves even when it costs something. It’s the kind of love that changes lives—including our own.
How does Jesus’ example challenge your understanding of what it means to love others? Is there someone in your life who needs to experience the selfless, forgiving love of Christ through you? What might “laying down your life” look like in your relationships—maybe your time, your pride, or your comfort?
This week, look for one practical way to love like Jesus—forgive someone who’s hurt you, serve someone who can’t repay you, or encourage a friend who’s struggling. Because when we love sacrificially, we reflect the very heart of the One who laid down His life for us.

About this Plan

The real challenge in life is not how well we start but how we stay faithful over time. In this devotional, we will journey with God’s people as they move from brokenness to renewal. We’ll meet a God who uses personal burdens, teamwork, perseverance through opposition, His Word, and lifelong faithfulness to accomplish His purposes. When the opposition feels too strong, there’s a bigger God who meets us in the middle of it all—a God who works in and through ordinary people.
