Who’s Driving Too Close?
Your life is like a multi-lane highway, and not everyone belongs in the fast lane.
Some folks belong in Lane 8, far off in the distance. They’re enemies who bring chaos, drama, or destruction. Others might be former friends or distant relatives who used to ride closely but drifted apart as the seasons changed. That’s normal. What’s not normal is letting people you barely trust merge right into your most personal space and take the wheel of your schedule, marriage, or peace.
Jesus had crowds, disciples, close friends, and only one John. Even the Son of God didn’t give everyone full access. Why? Because wisdom sets lanes. It’s not unloving to draw lines; it’s how you protect what matters most.
You can love people without letting them crash into your life. Just because someone wants in doesn’t mean they’re safe. Some people demand access, but don’t deserve it. Boundaries aren’t cruel; they’re Christlike.
When you don’t set clear lanes, people will set them for you, and it’s usually to benefit them, not you. That’s how manipulators get in close, energy vampires drain you, and unhealthy people hijack your peace. Every relationship comes at a cost: time, energy, and focus. So, here’s the hard truth: if you’re always available to everyone, you’ll eventually have nothing left for the right ones, your spouse, kids, and closest people. Start seeing boundaries not as barriers, but as guardrails. They don’t keep people out; they keep your life from crashing.
Who’s driving too close, and who needs to move to a safer lane in your life?
