Real Relationships

DAY 9 OF 15

Are You Running on Empty?

You only have so many hours, so much energy, and so much margin. Every “yes” to someone else is a “no” to your priorities, God, your spouse, your kids.

We learned this the hard way. Trying to serve everyone meant we were left with nothing for each other. Our marriage got crowded out. Even ministry, when unchecked, can crush your family if you ignore the limits God wired into you.

Jesus healed many, but didn’t heal all. He drew away, recharged, and said “no” more than He said “yes.” That’s not selfish. That’s strategic.

This isn’t about becoming cold; it’s about being called. You’re called to steward your capacity, not sacrifice it to every need that comes your way. You can’t be everything for everyone, and God never asked you to be.

When you run out of emotional fuel, your priorities suffer. That’s the warning light. You were never meant to give your spouse leftovers or your kids the scraps. And just because someone gets loud doesn’t mean they get access. God gave you limits for a reason. Steward your time. Protect your peace. Guard your home. That’s not weakness, that’s wisdom. If Jesus needed rest, retreat, and margin, you do too.

Who or what is eating your time, energy, and focus that doesn’t belong in this season?
