Are You Surrounding Yourself with the Right Voices?
Wisdom isn’t something you’re born with; it’s something you grow into. And often, that growth happens through the people around you.
In a world loud with opinions, it's easy to confuse popularity for wisdom. But Scripture teaches that wise people are humble, teachable, and Spirit-led. They don’t just talk, they live it. The truly wise won’t force their opinions; they’ll offer tested insight, rooted in experience, Scripture, and the Holy Spirit’s guidance.
Finding wise counsel doesn’t mean finding a flawless mentor who has all the answers. That’s a myth. Instead, build a bullpen of trusted voices, godly people with strength in specific areas like finances, marriage, parenting, or leadership. One person can’t guide you in everything, but a handful of wise people can help you walk in victory.
The wisest people in your life may not be loud or flashy. They might not be in your social media feed. But they’re consistent. They fear the Lord. They take responsibility. They think about legacy, not just likes. And when they speak, you want to write it down.
It takes humility to ask for help, and even more to listen. But wisdom starts with admitting, “I don’t know it all.” God loves to give wisdom to those who ask, and often, He does it through people.
Who are the wise voices in your life? Who are the fools? Take time this week to pray, reflect, and ask God to highlight the people you should walk with, and the ones you may need to walk away from.
Who in your life consistently shows godly wisdom, and how can you invite them to speak into your next big decision?
As you finish this journey, remember that relationships are never neutral; they either shape you toward wisdom or pull you toward chaos. Ask the Holy Spirit to guide your heart, your boundaries, and your circle. Invest deeply in the people who walk in the Spirit, set wise limits with the foolish, and keep distance from what is destructive. When your relationships honor God, they become a source of life, strength, and lasting impact. For more free resources, visit realfaith.com
