Path of Blessing

DAY 4 OF 5

A Faith That Rises

In life, we face times of prosperity and times of adversity. The truth is, we would rather not have to experience the latter. A time of laughter is easier than a time of weeping. The reality is that whether we want it or not, there will always be trouble in the world, as our Lord Jesus Christ said. But the words that follow that assertion from the Lord are monumental, rising above the weeping, the pain, the scarcity, the sickness, the fear, and all the afflictions one can experience.

Jesus said: “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33) That "I," full of power, sovereignty, and authority, is the one who is with us. When I speak of a faith that rises, I am talking about a trust in God that transcends bad times so that our eyes can be fixed on the "Mighty Warrior" who stands by our side.

It is the faith that led the prophet Habakkuk, who had a devastating picture of his people before his human eyes, to have the faith to say: “Though the fig tree does not bud... yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will be joyful in God my Savior.” What certainty, what conviction, what extraordinary faith! May the Lord help us to believe in that way and to say, as the prophet said: "The Sovereign Lord is my strength; he makes my feet like the feet of a deer, he enables me to tread on the heights." (Habakkuk 3:17-19)

Let Us Pray

Beloved Father, I want to believe. Lift my faith to the heights so that I may see Your outstretched arm working on my behalf. I love You, and it is my desire to please You with a faith that honors You every day of my life. In the name of Jesus, amen.

About this Plan

Path of Blessing

There are moments in our lives when it seems like we are wandering through a desert. It is not a pleasant feeling, much less an enjoyable one. Our lives long for the water of God, and we understand David when he said that his soul was laid low in the dust. But God has a word for us of hope, of change, and of restoration. In these five days, we will be turning to His Word to help us move from the desert to His path of blessing.
