Preparing for Marriage

DAY 4 OF 10

Honor One Another Intentionally

Honor is not accidental; it is intentional. To honor someone means to value them, respect them, and treat them as significant.

Early on in our marriage, I remember driving a long distance with my wife. I turned on the music like I always did, because in my “car culture,” music was just what you did. But she asked if we could turn it off. I was caught off guard. To me, the music made the drive better. But what she really wanted wasn’t background noise; she wanted connection. She wanted to talk, not ride for miles in silence with music filling the space. That moment taught me something important: honoring her meant valuing what mattered to her, not just what felt normal to me.

“It should be the husband’s pleasure to please his wife, and the wife’s care to care for her husband.” – Charles Spurgeon

In marriage, honor creates safety. It builds trust. It strengthens love. Choose now to speak with respect, act with kindness, and treat each other with dignity, even in the small, everyday moments.

Respond to God’s Word:

What is one practical way you can show honor to your future spouse this week?
